How I Cleared 7 Years of Cystic Acne — And Why I Built AccuFix
My story starts in the nub of adolescence and disappointment. My very first pimples appeared when I was sixteen - and decided to make a home on my face for the next seven years, like unwanted tenants that fight hard at the mention of eviction. I searched long and hard for a solution, a sneaky means of fighting off the gadfly.
I sought the assistance of several people who, having studied and practiced dermatology for several years, should theoretically have been able to solve my problem. A single step forward though, was always succeeded by two back. Many remedies and medicines later, things were worse than they had been to begin with.

The Moment Everything Changed
In 2016, my skin was at its worst.
I was studying in the UK at the time. One day, I stopped trying to find a quick fix and started researching the actual science of acne. I wanted to understand what was really happening inside my skin — not just what product to buy next.
What I found changed everything.
The conventional advice I had been following — aggressive treatments, harsh ingredients, scrubbing harder — was making my skin worse, not better. Acne skin is already inflamed and damaged. Adding more aggression does not fix it. It makes the barrier weaker, the inflammation worse, and the breakouts more stubborn.
The answer was the opposite of what I had been doing. Gentle. Consistent. Science-backed.
I rebuilt my routine from scratch. I focused on a simple four-step approach — a proper cleanser, a targeted treatment, a barrier-friendly moisturiser, and daily sun protection. I used salicylic acid to clear my pores gently. I repaired my skin barrier instead of stripping it. And I stopped using anything harsh, unproven, or full of ingredients my skin did not need.
Within months, my skin started to clear.
Not because of a miracle. Because of science done the right way.
What I Saw in Pakistan — And Why It Made Me Angry
When I came back to Pakistan, I started paying attention to what was available here for people with acne and problematic skin.
It didn’t take long for me to realise the sheer absence of affordable and effective, science-backed skincare in the Pakistani market. I was acutely aware of the numerous myths that surrounded skincare and the lack of solid advice about how to actually care for your skin. While new local brands have been popping up left, right, and centre, in an attempt to capitalise on the sudden interest in all things “natural” and “organic”, they are not backed by science and rely on fear-mongering, engendering in their consumers a trepidation of the dreaded “chemical”, to make their products sell.
Little do unwitting clients know however, that there is no concrete legal definition of the words natural or organic and that all things natural are also made up of chemicals - some of which can actively harm your skin and body. Water is a chemical and apples seeds, cherry pits and almonds, all contain doses of cyanide - a well-known, lethal toxin.
Why I Built AccuFix
In 2019, I launched AccuFix Cosmetics.
The mission was simple: make effective, gentle, science-backed skincare for problematic skin — and make it affordable and accessible in Pakistan.
I started with a salicylic acid range because that is where the biggest gap was. Salicylic acid is one of the most researched and proven ingredients for acne. It works. It is safe. And done right, it does not have to be harsh.
Every formula I create, I test on my own skin first. Before a single AccuFix product reaches your hands, it has been used on mine. I do this because I know what it feels like to have skin that is struggling — and I will not put something out in the world that I do not personally vouch for.
Today, AccuFix has grown to more than 60 products — across acne, pigmentation, sunscreen, hair care, body care, and barrier repair. But the foundation is still the same as the day I started.
Gentle. Evidence-led. Honest. No shortcuts.
The Scars That Stayed — And What They Mean
My skin cleared. But some of the scars from those seven years are still there.
I used to feel self-conscious about them. Now I see them differently. They are the reason AccuFix exists. Every person I have helped — every person who has messaged us to say their acne cleared, their skin barrier healed, their confidence came back — is a dot that connects back to those years of struggle.
You cannot connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backwards.
What This Means for Your Skin
If you are struggling with acne, pigmentation, hair fall, or skin that just will not cooperate — I want you to know something.
There is a way through. It is not harsh. It is not complicated. It just needs to be right.
Start with a simple routine. Be consistent. Use ingredients that are proven. Give your skin time.
If you are not sure where to start, here are some good places:
- Acne-prone or oily skin: Start with the Salicylic Acid Face Wash Gel — gentle enough for daily use, effective enough to actually work.
- Acne marks and uneven tone: The Azelaic Acid Serum helps fade marks gently without irritation.
- Dry or damaged skin: The Ceramide Moisturiser repairs the skin barrier and keeps it calm.
- Not sure what you need: Start with our acne collection and work from there.
I built AccuFix for skin like mine. And for skin like yours.
